Regeneration Works To Begin

Following the recent planning application consent given by Southwark Council, the regeneration work are set to begin on 11th January 2021. These will include the installation of new power infrastructure to facilitate an expansion of the market, new market stalls, market storage, landscaping improvements, a clock tower, and the demolition of 10 Market Place in order to create a new pedestrian route into the market square.

Warwick Landscaping have been appointed to undertake the works carefully in phases between January and July 2021, which will be carried out during permitted construction hours only and phased to ensure public access to the market, shops and town centre is maintained at all times.

Demolition works to 10 Market Place will be carried out in close liaison with adjoining properties. The contractor will have a site manager and a resident liaison officer who can both be contacted during working hours with any queries.

We have organised two opportunities for residents and traders to meet the contractor and we would be pleased to see you at either or both as follows:

Wednesday 6th January 1200-1700 drop in session at Big Local Works office, 4 Market Place, London SE16 3UQ – there will be clear guidance outside the unit in relation to the latest COVID-19 Government guidance. Please bring your face mask.

Thursday 7th January 1900-2000 virtual session.
